KS Systems FAQ's

How can I copy data into Excel?

The simplest way is to display the data list (datalist command) and select ‘copy’ from the ‘edit’ menu in the datalist window. Now switch to Excel and use the paste command. Alternatively use the D002XLS command from the macro interpreter to save the data list in Excel format. If you don’t have this command then upgrade to the latest service pack and run the KSxxx configuration utility and activate the ‘D00 converter’ option. A third option is to use the ‘D00IMPORT’ add-in for Microsoft Excel. This can be installed on any workstation running Excel 97 or later. This allows the KS ‘D00’ files to be read directly into an Excel worksheet. The add-in can be requested from ‘support@imas.co.uk’.

How can I change the precision of the number displayed in the database?

Measurement data is stored in a high precision format but only displays to 2 decimal placeds in the data list. To change this you must edit the KS300.ini or KS400.ini file (found in KSxxx/bin32). Find the section [cwdblist] and add the following line (example gives 6 figures after the decimal point): FpFormat=%.6f

My data list keeps disappearing or minimising.

In the data list window select ‘always on top’ from the ‘options’ menu.

How can I set the default tools and colours for the image editor?

This feature is added in service pack 7. It will remember the last used settings and there are functions to define the settings ‘ImgEditorSetProp’ in the macro language.

After installing service pack 7 I can’t see the adaptive threshold function?

There was an error in some of the service packs distributed. You need an additional file COIP300.OPT, contact support@imas.co.uk.

My display window is very small and cannot be resized.

This can happen if the KS ini file is corrupted. Contact support@imas.co.uk.

Can I automatically run a macro when KS starts?

If you save the macro as ‘userinit.mcr’ it will be automatically run when KS starts up.

How can I change the default image directory?

Use the macro command ‘imgsetpath’. If you have upgraded to service pack 7 you also have ‘imgsetpathEx’ available which gives a more interactive operation.

How can I save my graphics with the image?

In the graphics menu select ‘merge’ to burn the graphics into the image. If it is a colour image then you will preserve the graphics colours. If it is a monochrome image then you must set a grey level for the graphics to be copied to.

How can I add a scale bar to my image?

In the measure menu use the ‘marker’ function.

How can I find out what the measurement features mean?

Open the ‘set features’ window in the measure menu. As you move your cursor over the features in the centre column you will see a brief description at the bottom of the window.
